Helen B. Wallace

Helen B. (Otte) Wallace, 94, of Newton died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday, and the family will greet friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or the Centre for Arts & Artists may be left at the funeral home or at the church at the time of the service. Memorials also may be mailed to the funeral home; please add, Attn: Wallace Family on the envelope.

Helen was the co-owner of the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton from 1963-1984. She was then associated with the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home from 1984-1998, and had worked at the Wallace Family Funeral Home since 1999.

Those left to honor Helen’s memory are her children, Dr. John R. (Janeen) Wallace of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jane Reilly of Catonsville, Md.; four grandchildren: Jeff (Nicole) Wallace of Torrance, Calif., Chad (Heather) Wallace of Las Vegas, Nev., Jake (Pearl) Laaveg of Catonsville, Md., and Sami Wallace of Las Vegas, Nev.; five great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Garrett, Jackson, Emily, and Audrey; her identical twin sister, Hazel Cramer of Topeka, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews, including Gary (Pat) Wallace of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert in 2007; brother, Alvin Otte; and infant sister, Florence Otte.
