Two charged in burglary

STATE CENTER (AP) — Two people have been arrested and charged in the burglary of a central Iowa police officer’s home, during which the officer’s gun was stolen.

The Marshalltown Times Republic reports that 21-year-old Ricky Dale Harms Jr. and 53-year-old Carolyn Porter were arrested Monday. Harms has been charged with burglary, theft and a misdemeanor count of having drug paraphernalia. Porter was charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

No one was home at the time of the burglary.

A phone listing for Porter could not be found. Harms remains jailed on $10,000 bail and could not be reached for comment Friday.
