BOONE (AP) — A fund has been established to help pay funeral expenses for a 17-year-old who died in a house fire in Boone.

The Des Moines Register reports the fund has been established to pay for the funeral for Nyakouth Chuol, who died in the fire Friday at the Youth and Shelter Services home.

Authorities say Chuol was found on a downstairs kitchen floor and was pronounced dead at a Boone County hospital.

She was the only person home during the fire. Another resident of the shelter was staying with relatives.

Donations for the fund, which also will help replace the other resident’s belongings, can be made to Youth and Shelter Services, 420 Kellogg Ave., Ames, Iowa, 50014.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been released.
