Community should be proud of Red Pride Service Day

Published: Friday, May 17, 2013 11:22 a.m. CDT

Wednesday, the students of Newton Senior High School fanned out across the community, tending to projects in need of helping hands, as part of Red Pride Service Day. That’s something Newton should be proud of; few school districts in Iowa do anything like it.

Service to one’s community is one of the key components of being a good citizen. There can be little doubt that in today’s world, we need more good citizens. So, on behalf of the community, we would like to extend our thanks to the faculty, staff and students who participated in this year’s community service effort.
