Memorial Day Picnic
Mineral Springs Park, May 27
A lunch will be served at Mineral Spring Park on Monday, May 27, immediately following the Colfax Memorial Day ceremony at the river. Hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, baked beans, potato salad, chips, iced tea, lemonade, desert and slushies will be served. A free will offering will be accepted for lunch.
Raffle tickets will be available to purchase. Prizes offered will include Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 with Remote, two tickets to the Iowa Speedway (Nascar Nationwide), auto detailing, tractor inspection, rounds of golf, a 30 day golf club membership.
There will be free balloons by a balloon master (1 per person please), as well as a climbing wall, a bounce house and bingo.
The schedule of events for the afternoon are:
12 to 1 p.m. — Rear View Mirror Band
1 to 2 p.m. — Magician
2 to 3 p.m. — Heading Home Singers
3 p.m. — Raffle and balloon master
Bring your own chairs or blankets.
The Memorial Day Picnic and events are presented by the Colfax churches, Amvets and American Legion.
Proceeds will be used to replace the concrete cross at the cemetery, recover and refurbish local World War II memorial and establish a memorial park to honor all veterans.
