After a strong first season, Newton freshman Madison Humphrey and a few teammates from the Newton bowling teams recently earned some recognition for their efforts.
Humphrey was named first team all-District 5, while sophomore teammate Erica Bailey received honorable mention honors, as did senior Dylan Van Sickle of the boys team.
Leading the Cardinal girls with an average of 188.4, Humphrey regularly led the team during regular-season competition, with her high game coming in at 227. Her series averaged finished out at 376.8, while her highest series score was 416.
Also representing the Cardinal girls was Bailey, who finished the season with a 163.9 average. Her high game was a 191, with her series average finishing at 327.8 and her high series score was a 365.
As one of only a handful of seniors on the Cardinal boys team, Van Sickle represented well. He finished the season with an average score of 177.9 and a high game of 240. His series average checked in at 355.8, while his high series score was a 476.
Both Cardinal teams’ seasons came to an end at the regional tournament in February.
