Kellogg Garden Club
The Kellogg Garden Club met April 23. Members finalized plans for their High Tea, to be held at 1 p.m. May 18 at the cabin in Holmdahl Park. Jim White, from Bates Flower Shop, will speak. Tickets are available for $10 and may be purchased at the Kellogg Bank, from any garden cub member or by calling (641) 236-9479.
Member Louise Meakins, gave an interesting presentation about the Gulf of Mexico Dead Zone. Nitrogen and phosphorus are carried to the gulf by the rivers and cause the deep water there to become oxygen starved, which disrupts the entire life cycle of organisms living in the gulf waters.
The club will attend the district meeting on June 3 at St. Charles. Members will celebrate National Garden Week, June 2-8, by placing floral arrangements in local nursing homes.
