• Two Kellogg men were arrested Tuesday evening after police stopped a vehicle at Highway 224 and Highway 6 East around 8 p.m. The driver of vehicle, 16-year-old Cody A. Martin, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers also discovered he was driving without insurance and had tobacco in his possession. He was cited for driving without insurance and being in possession of tobacco as a minor. His passenger, Michael D. Cassady, 34, is alleged to have thrown a pipe with burnt residue out the window of the vehicle and allegedly had several morphine pills in his possession. He was then charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug delivery. Cassady was taken to the Jasper County Jail, and Martin was released to his parents.

• Isaiah D. Bradford, 21, of Cedar Rapids was charged at 3:11 a.m. Sunday with operating while intoxicated and was cited for having an open container after officers observed him driving erratically on the 164 mile marker, eastbound on Interstate 80. His blood alcohol content at the time was reportedly .163. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jonathan T. Cupples. 16 of Newton and Zach L. Laffoon, 16, of Newton were both summoned and cited with possession of alcohol as a minor after officers were dispatched to the Metz Railroad. Both were reported to have blood alcohol content of more than .03. Both were released to their parents.

• William J. Padron, 40, of Newton was cited for driving while license suspended after officers stopped him at 3216 Highway F 74. He was released to appear.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
