The Class 2A No. 1 Prairie City-Monroe boys golf team took its first defeats at the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City.

South Hamilton took the team title as well as the top two spot, and the Mustangs were led by Devon Woody with a 76. Ryan Jennings and Hunter Van Veen also managed all-conference honors with a 79 and 81, respectively. Justin Beener rounded out the team scoring with an 84.

“We kind of had an off day today but still finished second,” PCM coach Mike Smith said. “(Woody) had a real rough third hole taking a triple bogey, but really held it together for the round. I love how he never gave up.”

PCM will be right back in action today against Des Moines Christian, South Hamilton and Panorama-Panora at Jester Park in Granger.
