Two men were arrested following a drug bust executed Friday morning by officers of the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force and Jasper County SERT.
According to MINE-East Task Force Supervisor Lt. Brad Shutts of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, officers executed a search warrant at 10:11 a.m. at 316 Hickory St. in Country Club Acres in Newton. Once inside, they apprehended Joshua Fifer, 29, of Newton and Jordan Sedlock, 23, of Grinnell. The men were each arrested and charged with a number of drug-related offenses.
Fifer faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Sedlock faces charges of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance with intent to deliver, an aggravated misdemeanor; failure to have a drug stamp, a Class D felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Simple misdemeanors carry maximum sentences of 30 days in jail. Serious misdemeanors carry maximum sentences of one year in jail. Aggravated misdemeanors carry maximum sentences of two years in prison. Class D felonies carry maximum sentences of five years in prison.
The MINE Task Force is located in Des Moines and is composed of officers from 16 different agencies, including the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Newton Police Department.
