Newton Police Department

• A 13-year-old Newton boy was charged with fifth-degree theft Thursday for a previous incident where employees allegedly observed him stealing $175.29 worth of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon cards at Walmart at 4:23 p.m. April 11th. His case was referred to juvenile authorities.

• Andrew L. Ridley, 21, of Missouri was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for a suspended license charge after officials in Hardin County notified the Newton Police Department it had him in custody around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Michael A. Langerak, 25, of Des Moines was picked-up from the Polk County Jail at 1:10 p.m. Thursday after authorities discovered an outstanding warrant for a failure to appear charge. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jesse J. Moss, 20, of Des Moines was picked up from the Polk County Jail at 11:21 p.m. Thursday after authorities discovered an outstanding warrant for an unauthorized use of a credit card charge. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
