John J. ‘Jack’ Barnes Jr.

Mr. John J. Barnes Jr., 78, of Plantation Place, Villa Rica, Ga., passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

Mr. Barnes was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 5, 1934, the son of the late John J. Barnes, Sr. and Laura Mae Carlson Barnes. 

Mr. Barnes was a graduate of Newton High School, Newton, Iowa, Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. He was employed by the J. C. Penney Company in Indianola, Iowa, Kewanee, Ill., St. Louis, Mo., and Bluffton, Ind. He retired to Fairfield Plantation in 1995. 

Jack had a love of music and studied organ at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church with Dr. Robert Coe until the time of his death.

He is survived by several cousins and his sister-in-law, Nancy Barnes of Fairfield Plantation. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, James W. Barnes.

There are no services planned at this time. According to Jack’s wishes, his body was cremated.
