Newton teen pleads guilty to eluding

Newton resident Bradley A. Rabedeaux, 18, pleaded guilty Wednesday to eluding, an aggravated misdemeanor, after leading police on a high-speed chase through western Jasper County last month.

During the chase, police reported he reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. While in custody, he told officers he did not stop originally because he thought his father would be angry at him for getting a speeding ticket.

He is facing numerous other citations, including speeding, reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device and passing on a grade or hill. A child endangerment charge against him for having a 16-year-old passenger in his vehicle at the time of the chase was dismissed.
