CMB boys golf falls to South Hamilton in Jewell

The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter boys golf team took on perennial Heart of Iowa Conference championship contender South Hamilton at Jewell Country Club on Tuesday. The Raiders’ lack of practice time due to extreme weather conditions likely hindered their performance, as they fell to the Hawks 162-220. The JV team also took a tough loss, falling 208-240.

The low scorer for the Raiders was Jason Huntrods with a 51. His round included bogeys on holes two, four and eight. The next low-man for CMB was Garrett Husske. Husske’s round of 53 included one par on hole number two. Next for the Raiders was a 57 by Lehvi Bucklin. He also was able to par hole two as well as hole eight. The last counting score for CMB came from Jake Hennick. He shot a 59 with bogeys on holes two and four.

CMB coach Kris Corbin suggested the team’s lack of preactice time had a lot to do with the lopsided team scores.

“We didn’t play very well, but since this is only the second time this year we have been on a course it’s not bad,” Corbin said. “We haven’t been able to make a course even for practice so far this year.”

The Raiders’ next meet is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at the Saydel Invitational.
