Commuters traveling to Des Moines on Interstate 80 will likely be able to experience normal traffic soon, as deck-joint repairs are expected to be completed by May 15.

Iowa Department of Transportation Field Service Coordinator Andy Loonan said I-80 will continue to be down to one lane for about a month, weather permitting. The next portion of the repairs will force drivers to travel on a narrower lane, which will be reduced about two feet from the current road width.
