C-M boys track places in multiple events at Saydel

The Colfax-Mingo boys track team may have been without its entire junior class due to the ACT, but the Tigerhawks were still able to turn in multiple place-winning performances at their meet at Saydel on Saturday.

Senior Connor Hainer continued his impressive season with first-place showings in both the long jump and the 200-meter dash. Hainer jumped 21 feet, 5.75 inches to take the long jump, then completed the 200 in 22.95 seconds for his second victory of the day. Individually, he also took third in the 100 with a time of 11.64.

“Connor Hainer continues to be a dominating force for us,” C-M coach Matt Barkalow said.

Other place winners in the meet included the 4x400 relay team of Hainer, Chad McLain, Byron Johnson and Jaden Van Dyke, which took third with a time of 3:35.79. Trent Pease also placed third in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.93, Van Dyke took fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:00.30 and the distance medley team of McLain, Johnson, Michael Brown and Jake Alexander took sixth with a time of 4:15.01.

The Tigerhawks will be back in action at Norwalk today, where they will try to further cement their top spots in multiple events. Hainer is currently ranked first in Class 2A in the long jump and 400, as well as second in the 100 and 200. Van Dyke also ranks second in the 800 and ninth in the 400, while the 4x400 team is eighth.
