‘Rock of Ages’ coming April 26, 27

Tickets are on sale now to this 80s-inspired musical

DES MOINES — Get out your torn jeans and Aqua Net and make plans to party ’80s-style when “Rock of Ages” comes to the Civic Center for three shows only on April 26 and 27.

Part of the Wills Broadway Series presented by Des Moines Performing Arts, “Rock of Ages” will show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27.

In 1987, on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA’s most famous rock club, and they fall in love with some of the greatest songs of the 1980s as their soundtrack. A five-time 2009 Tony Award nominee, “Rock of Ages” tells this arena-rock love story through the hits of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia and Whitesnake, among others.

Having played stages from Broadway to South Korea, the musical features 28 classic rock tunes, including “Don’t Stop Believin’”, “We Built This City,” “The Final Countdown,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “Here I Go Again,” “Harden My Heart,” “Can’t Fight this Feeling,” “Renegade” and “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
