Newton Police Department

• Denise N. Meyer, 79, of Newton was cited at 7:34 p.m. Monday for an earlier incident where she is alleged to have passed a stopped school bus in the 500 block of East 24th Street South at 4:41 a.m. Friday. Following an investigation, police were dispatched to 1022 First Ave. W. #1 where she was cited. Meyer was released to appear.

• Rodney M. Savage, 27, of Newton was charged with serious domestic assault at 324 W. Fourth St. S. at 5:15 a.m. Friday. When officers arrived, Savage was not at the location at the time, but a female victim said he allegedly assaulted her and caused minor injuries to her forearm. Officers located him a few hours later and brought him to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jason M. Winchell, 43, of Newton was charged with domestic assault at 7:16 a.m. Monday after officers were dispatched to 310 E. Fourth St. N. #3 on a report of assault. Winchell allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and kicked her. Winchell was not present when officers arrived but returned was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
