Newton PD alert public to dangerous dog at-large

The Newton Police Department is asking the public for help in finding and identifying a German Shepherd that was last seen running loose at Maytag park Monday afternoon.

The brown and black German Shepherd bit an adult in Maytag park. The adult stated that the dog did not have a dog tag and took off running down the bike path.

The victim was not seriously hurt but did seek medical treatment. The police department would like to find this dog and its owner to see if the dog is up to date on its rabies vaccinations.

Anyone who witnesses a German Shepherd running loose, especially around Maytag park, is asked to be cautious and call the Newton Police Department at (641) 792-1547.

The public is asked to contact the police department if they see any dog running loose so that the animal can be caught and returned to JCARL or its owner.
