Jasper County Veterans Affairs Director charged with second-degree harassment

Jasper County Veterans Affairs Director Christopher A. Chartier, 30, of Newton was charged with second-degree harassment after police were called to his wife’s residence at 4:14 a.m. Sunday.

According to police reports, Chartier arrived at the residence and was not allowed inside. After not being allowed to enter, he allegedly called his wife and threatened her. Authorities located him in the 400 block of West Fourth Street South and took him to the Jasper County Jail.

This is the third time Chartier has been arrested in the past year. He was charged with harassment in November and operating while intoxicated in February.
