Public hearing on sewage during supervisors meeting

When the Jasper County Board of Supervisors meets Tuesday for its weekly meeting, the first thing on its agenda will be the public hearing and second reading of ordinance 61 which focuses on on-site wastewater treatment and disposal.

Ordinance #61 would repeal ordinances 52, 53, 54, 55, 55a and 56. By repealing the previous ordinances, 61 would give comprehensive regulations for the use, design, installation, maintenance and replacement of all on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems in all incorporated and unincorporated areas of Jasper County. It would also provide the administration and enforcement of the new regulations.

Jasper County Sanitation Director Kevin Luetters will be available at the public hearing to answer questions the public may have.  The board will also hold a public hearing to set a date for construction permit applications for a confinement feeding operation. The tentative date is April 4.
