Barbara Creger Richey, 92, of Rock Island, Ill., formally of Newton, Iowa, died March 13, 2013, at Silver Cross Nursing Center of Friendship Manor in Rock Island, Ill.

A service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with visitation one hour prior to the service. Following the service burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery.

Barbara was born on Sept. 11, 1920, in Grinnell, Iowa to Carl and Gladys Jones. She attended public schools in Grinnell and Newton, Iowa. Barbara spent most of her adult life in Little Rock, Arkansas where she was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years. Much of her working life was spent with the Arkansas Revenue Department in Little Rock where she served as Supervisor of the Income Tax Division retiring in 1980. Barbara married Ralph Creger in 1941 and a second marriage to Harry Richey in 1980.
