Newton Police Department

• Andrew W. Baldwin, 16, of Newton was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian at the intersection of First Avenue and First Street near PJ’s Deli at 8:03 a.m. Wednesday. Baldwin was driving eastbound on First Avenue when he turned onto First Street and hit Phillip D. Schryver, 35, of Newton, who was walking west through the intersection crosswalk. Baldwin said the glare of the sun prevented him from seeing Schryver, who was transported to Skiff Medical Center.

• Cole S. Doerring, 16, of Newton was cited for failure to maintain control after he struck a parked vehicle at 7:53 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of South Fifth Avenue West. Doerring was traveling eastbound on Fifth Avenue. Doerring said sunlight prevented him from seeing the vehicle, owned by Danial Vasquez of Newton. Both vehicles sustained an estimated $1,500 worth of damage.
