Newton Police Department

• Joshua B. Arcelo, 30, of Marshalltown was arrested at 3:50 p.m. Saturday at the EconoLodge on an outstanding Marshall County warrant for probation violation for a marijuana conviction. He told employees he wanted to turn himself in, and they notified police. He was transferred to Laurel, where he was picked up by Marshall County officials.

• Richard A. Good, 34, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine after police where dispatched to Kum & Go at 10:25 p.m. Saturday in reference to a theft. Police located Good in an alley behind Maid-Rite. While searching him, police found a pipe and methamphetamine and $7.74 worth of items allegedly taken from Kum & Go. He was released to appear.
