Samson receives Central College football honor

PELLA (CC) — Collins-Maxwell-Baxter alumnus Danny Samson was honored for his contributions to the Central College football team this fall at the squad’s recent awards banquet.

Samson, a Baxter native, was selected to the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team for his work on Central’s defensive line. He recorded 42 tackles (17 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one defended pass, one forced fumble and one blocked kick in the 2012 campaign. He has now received two varsity letters.

In Jeff McMartin’s ninth season as head coach, the Dutch compiled a 5-5 record, with a 4-3 conference record, finishing tied for second in the Iowa Conference.
