Hawaiian Vacation Travel Show set for Monday

As winter weather bears down on Iowa, the Newton YMCA and JH Travel LLC are teaming up to offer a chance for fun in the sun on an Hawaiian vacation.

The YMCA/JH Travel Hawaiian Vacation Travel Show to discuss the upcoming trip will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Newton YMCA, 1701 S. Eighth Ave. E.

“This is a great opportunity for people to enjoy the beautiful islands of Hawaii without the hassle of planning a vacation,” said Jessica Lowe, Newton YMCA membership and marketing director. “Thanks to Janie (Haunsperger) with JH Travel this is a one-stop shop for an amazing trip to the Aloha state.”

The vacation is an eight-day trip to the warm and tropical islands of Maui and Oahu set for Nov. 4-11. The luxurious getaway includes motor coach transportation from Newton to Des Moines Airport, roundtrip airfare to Hawaii, six-nights lodging, luggage handling, local tour director, inter-island flight, seven full breakfasts, dinner at Japanese steakhouse, traditional Hawaiian luau, USS Arizona Memorial tour, Honolulu City tour, Magnificent Maui tour, whale watching boat tour and more.

The offering from JH Travel and the Newton YMCA is similar to programs at other YMCAs in the area who partner with a travel agency to promote traveling, relaxation and support their non-profit programs.

“The Hawaiian vacation is not only a service the YMCA is providing, it also is a fundraising effort for us,” Lowe said. “The YMCA will receive a portion of each vacation booked. This is a great opportunity for people to go on a magnificent vacation and support a local non-profit organization.”

The travel show is open to the public. During the show, there will be refreshments available and information about the trip will be presented.
