Melva M. Waite, 95, passed away Feb. 18, 2013, at Park Centre Health Care.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. The family will greet family and friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, First United Methodist Church in Newton or Good Samaritan Fund at Park Centre in Newton. The Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Melva was born in Laurens, Iowa, on Jan. 18, 1918. Melva was a long time resident of Iowa Falls moving to Park Centre, Newton, in 2007 to be near her daughter, Jane Hollander, and husband Tom of Newton.

Melva is survived by her daughter Jane Hollander (Tom) of Newton and son, Jack (Donna) of Lompoc, Calif.; her granddaughter, Sara Van Manen (Todd) of Newton; her grandsons, Marc Hollander (Mandy) of West Des Moines, Major Adam Waite (Eve) of McGuire AFB, N.J., and Andrew Waite of Santa Clarita, Calif.; her great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Lauren and Ashlyn Van Manen of Newton, Madeline and Malcolm Hollander of West Des Moines, Isaac Waite of McGuire AFB, N.J.; three sisters; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, parents, a daughter-in-law, two brothers and three brothers-in-law preceded her in death.
