NHS to present 'Night of Jazz' on Friday

The Newton Senior High School Band Department’s annual Night of Jazz will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the high school Center for Performance.

The Berg Middle School Jazz Band, comprised of approximately 40 seventh and eighth grade students who have been practicing since November, will start the evening with a bang. The middle school jazz band, under the direction of Seth Banwell, will perform the following selections: “Mission: Impossible Theme,” “It Don’t Mean A Thing,” and “Ya Just Gotta Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

The Newton Senior High School Jazz Lab, which rehearses weekly after school, will perform three selections for jazz enthusiasts: “Summertime,” “My Funny Valentine,” and “Chameleon.”
