Newton bowlers take second at regionals, miss state cut

After promising results in their past few meets, the Newton boys’ and girls’ bowling teams’ seasons came to an abrupt end Thursday night.

The boys’ total score of 2,517 and the girls’ 2165 were both good enough for second at their regional meets, but didn’t make the cut into the top 10 teams to qualify for the state meet.

Newton was also left out of the individual qualifying spots, which went to the top 16 scores. It is the first time in four year that the Cardinal girls didn’t reach state.
