Iowa Department on Aging searching for centenarians

DES MOINES — The Iowa Department on Aging is reaching out to Iowans who may be, or know someone, who is 100 years old or older in order to add these special seniors to the Iowa Centenarian Registry and honor them at the annual Centenarian Honors Celebration in October.

Any Iowan born in 1913 (or before and not yet on the Iowa Centenarian Registry) qualifies for this milestone recognition. Per capita, Iowa ranks third in the nation in the number of centenarians.

If you, a family member, neighbor or friend has or will reach this important milestone, contact the Iowa Department on Aging at (515) 725-3333 or toll-free at (800) 532-3213.  According to the 2010 U.S. Census, there are 846 centenarians in Iowa.
