Jack Lynn Schroyer

Jack Lynn Schroyer passed away peacefully at Skiff Medical Center on Feb. 5, 2013, surrounded by family.

Jack was born in Baxter, Iowa, in 1925. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Air Force. There he was stationed outside London, serving in the 384th bombardment group of the 8th Air Force during World War II. Jack was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Beth” Carol Rick on March 1, 1947.

Jack was a bridge contactor and retired after building bridges throughout Iowa for 40 years. He retired in Newton and biked 1,000 miles a summer on the Iowa bike trails until he was 82. He enjoyed history, animals — especially his two cats — and traveling with his beloved wife of 52 years. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, VFW, BPOE — Elks Lodge and First Presbyterian Church.
