Scott B. Bosma

Scott B. Bosma, 58, of Newton went to be with his Lord and Heavenly Father on Friday evening, Feb. 1, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton under the care of Skiff Hospice.

A funeral service for Scott will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church, Pastor Bryan Keeton officiating. Friends may call at the church with the family after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, until service time. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Lakota, Iowa, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being designated in Scott’s name to Skiff Hospice, Dollar for Scholars and Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church.

The son of Jenifer Harold and Mary Ann (Tvedten) Bosma, Scott was born Dec. 15, 1954, in Blue Earth, Minn. He was a graduate of the Lakota High School, Class of 1973. He would graduate from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, and later received his Masters from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis. Scott taught school at Colfax-Mingo Middle Schools, seventh and eighth grades language arts class, and Newton Middle Schools, seventh grade reading. He was also the head basketball coach at Newton Senior High School, 2000-2005.

On July 30, 1977, Scott was united in marriage with Nancy Lynn Nebergall in Lakota. He devoted his life to his family, and was a devoted member of the Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church. He enjoyed family and friends, and gardening, landscaping and interior designing.

Those left to honor Scott’s memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Jamie and Dr. John “Jack” Groh of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; his son, Bradley Bosma of Chicago, Ill.; his parents, Jenifer & Mary Ann Bosma of Blue Earth, Minn.; his brother, Brian (Marcela) Bosma of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; his sister, Lorrie Bosma of Blue Earth; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Shirley Nebergall of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law Dr. Robert Nebergall of Tulsa, Okla.; his niece and nephews; and his many friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife Nancy on Dec. 14, 2009, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
