Newton native Doree Ward honored by Drake University
Newton native Doree Ward was honored with the Drake Double D award in a ceremony over the weekend.
The Double D award is presented annually to Drake letterwinners for achievements in their profession or in community service since earning degrees from Drake. The award was first given out in 1968 and has since been presented to 246 former Drake letterwinners, including this year’s recipients.
Ward, who played basketball for Drake, is a social studies teacher at Newton Senior High School.
