Newton Police Department

• Tracy A. Weldon, 53, of Knoxville was charged with tampering with records, an aggravated misdemeanor, and unlawful of possession of prescription drugs, a serious misdemeanor, following an investigation by authorities into an incident reported at 7:16 p.m. Nov. 29 at Nelson Manor. Weldon, an employee of Nelson Manor, was charged for allegedly forging staff signatures on forms used for destroying medications and for allegedly being found in possession of several medications that were supposed to have been destroyed, including hydrocodone, Xanax, lorazepam and 500 mg tablets of acetaminophen. She was charged at the Newton Police Department on Thursday and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
