To the editor:

The following is a poem written as a tribute to Gerrit Rooda, who has been gone for 10 years.

A Tribute to

Gerrit Rooda

Our dear Gerrit, it is hard to believe,

That it has been ten years, since you had to leave.

We miss you each and every day,

But we know you’re better off though, in that land far away.

No more sickness, no more disease,

You have a new body now, which puts our minds at ease.

A lot has changed, on this earth below,

We are doing okay, but want you to know,

That we cannot wait, for the day we can meet,

And worship together at Jesus’ feet.

Have you talked to your parents, whom you loved so?

Have you to Mary and Joseph, who lived so long ago?

Do you have a woodworking shop, do you make chairs and toys?

For the precious throng of all the little girls and boys?

Are you dancing each day, on the streets of gold?

Worshipping our glorious Savior, I’m sure never gets old.

To leave this old world, we cannot wait.

And to see your smiling face, greet us at Heaven’s gate!
