• Jeremy E. Dengler, 24, of Newton was arrested on a warrant for possession of stolen property after authorities stopped a vehicle in which he was a passenger for a traffic violation at 4:08 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of First Avenue East. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Deanna M. Hood, 26, of Des Moines was arrested and charged with possession of prescription medication with intent to deliver, driving while license barred, driving while license suspended, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and failure to have proof of insurance after authorities stopped her at 12:37 a.m. Saturday at the 154 mile marker on Interstate 80. Hood was driving another person’s vehicle and allegedly was found in possession of hydrocodone and 500 mg Tylenol tablets without prescriptions. She was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Michael A. Langerak, 25, of Des Moines was served a warrant for failure to appear in court for a child support hearing. Langerak was in jail when the warranted was served at 1:10 p.m. Sunday.

• Jeremy Peterson, 33, of Knoxville was arrested and charged with simple domestic abuse assault and obstruction of emergency communication after authorities responded to an incomplete 911 call at 6:14 p.m. Monday at 6681 S. 20th Ave. W. in Newton. Peterson was charged for allegedly assaulting a 34-year-old female and for preventing her from calling authorities. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
