Lily Ann M. Twedt

Lily Ann Maxine Twedt, 87, of Newton passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.

Private graveside and interment services for Lily Ann will be Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home Cemetery in Marshalltown. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton are entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials are being designated in Lily Ann’s name, and may be left at the funeral home.

Lily Ann, the daughter of Ralph Eugene and Myrtle E. (Hutchinson) Faircloth, was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Des Moines. She was a graduate of the Newton High School.

On Dec. 1, 1951, Lily Ann was united in marriage with Verlyn Orlando Twedt, North of Kellogg, in the Nelson Murdock’s home. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, she moved to Marshalltown in 2000, to be near her husband at the Iowa Veteran’s Home. Lily Ann had devoted her life to her husband, family and friends, and was a member of the LeGrand Friends Church. She had helped her husband on the farm and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Those left to honor Lily Ann’s memory include her son Kevin Eugene Twedt of New York, N.Y.; her twin sister Cora Eugene Anderson of Baxter; and many friends.

Lily Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Verlyn, on March 3, 2001.
