PCM wrestling splits Senior Night duals

Facing some similar competition as to the Heart of Iowa Conference meet last weekend, the Prairie City-Monroe wrestling team had a mixed bag of results for its Senior Night on Thursday.

The Mustangs earned a narrow 40-36 victory over North Polk in one dual, but also suffered a 46-30 defeat at the hands of conference champion Greene County in the other.

Against the Comets, PCM got pins from Tristan Clark (126 pounds), Skyler Koder (138), Hunter Reed (152), Luke Cummings (160), Dakota Timmins (170) and Heart of Iowa champ Ron Marshall (182). At 195, Lucas Rains earned a 13-4 major decision to round out the Mustangs’ points. North Polk received forfeits at 113 and 120.

Things didn’t go as smooth for PCM against the Rams, as Clark started the dual with a narrow 8-7 loss to Greene County’s Dylan Forkner. Cummings earned PCM’s first victory of the dual with his second pin of the night at 160, and started a PCM run in the process. After that, Timmins earned his second pin of the night, Rains earned his first and Marshall received a forfeit to put PCM back in the conversation.

Reece Broderson received a forfeit at 106 for PCM’s last points of the dual, but Greene County ended the night with two pins and two forfeits to earn the victory.

PCM is now off until its sectional meet at Saydel High School on Feb. 2.
