Shellie Louise Cupp-Jones, the daughter of Charlie and Evelyn Josephine (McGee) Cupp, was born Oct. 14, 1954, in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School. Shellie was united in marriage with Rick Jones on April 11, 1982, in Newton, Iowa.

Shellie worked as a bartender and waitress at various restaurants. She was a member of various local organizations and attended the Newton Church of Christ.

Shellie died on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at her home in Newton. She was 58 years old. Shellie was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Melissa Renee; and her sister and brother-in-law, Gennie (Richard) Feehan.

Those left to honor Shellie’s memory include her husband, Rick Jones of Newton; her grandchildren; her brother, Charles (Sheryl) Cupp of Des Moines, Iowa; her sister, Lorrie Cupp of Newton, Iowa; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doug Jones of Mitchellville, Iowa, Pamela Smith of Newton, Iowa, Tom (Tammy) Wickett of Colfax, Iowa, Vicki (Rick) Butler of Exline, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated in Shellie’s name.
