PCM girls cruise to victory over Colfax

a 1-3-1 zone, which as Grier explained was mostly an act of desperation after being frustrated with their overall defensive play so far this year. The zone was difficult to penetrate for the Tigerhawks and turnovers told the story. The Mustangs controlled the ball smartly, while Colfax committed turnover after turnover.

“We really kind of just started that over Christmas break. Before that we were really just a man-to man-team.” Grier said. “We were just kind of beating our heads against the wall finding out what our identity was. So we kind of just made the decision that we’d try it and see how it feels. It’s been electric for us.”

Defense creating offense was definitely the story of the night for the Mustangs. Their active zone confused the Tigerhawks until the last buzzer.
