Carol June Hedges, 56, of Newton died on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Memorials in Carol’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Carol, the daughter of Austin and Helen (Ridgeway) Holmes was born on May 18, 1956, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1973. Carol married Richard Hedges and had two children, LaShell Renee Hedges and Dale Hedges. The family resided in Germany and US Army bases in the US. After their divorce, Carol became a nurses’ aid at both private and nursing homes. She retired from Valley View Village in Des Moines.
