Supervisors approve Sheriff Halferty’s recommendations

The Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved the food contract for Jasper County Jail with CBM Managed Service on Tuesday.

Jasper County Sheriff John Halferty informed the board that food prices rose, but it was factored in the budget.

The board approved the contract extension with Morphotrak. Morphotrak provides the jail with an electronic fingerprint system and is required to have maintenance work to keep the system running. The maintenance work is estimated to cost $2,251.

The board approved of Halferty’s submitted list of Deputy Sheriffs and Reserve Sheriffs which are the following:

Deputy Sheriff: Joshua Britton, Jeremy Burdes Jeremy Burdt, Jeremy Dittmer, Aaron Groves, Michael Gunsaulas, Marc Headington, Brady Lewis, Tony Ong, Duane Rozendaal, Brad Shutts and Bradley Van Zante.

Reserve Sheriff: Doug Balswin, John Bartello III, Jake Clymer, Ryan Engle. Mark Frymoyer, Marsha Patterson, Cody Snyder, Kinda Stevenson and Steve Wright.

The board also heard from Jasper County Auditor Dennis Parrott about a resolution instituting proceedings to take additional action for the authorization of a loan agreement and the issuance of not to exceed $1,850,000 from the General Obligation Refunding Capital Loan notes.

Parrott informed the board that if the county was able to refinance a $1,850,000 bond, they would save money. The board did not vote on the issue, as they are waiting for the best rate to refinance.

The board also approved liquor license for the Colfax County Club and the monthly report for December.

The board will not meet next week.
