Colfax-Mingo hosts wrestling quadrangular Thursday night

The Prairie City-Monroe wrestling team picked up two victories Thursday night in a quadrangular against county foe Colfax-Mingo, Gilbert and Panorama in Colfax.

In the intra-county matchup, the Mustangs topped the Tigerhawks 53-30. Tristan Clark (126), Jade Coleman (152) and Ron Marshall (182) all earned pins for PCM, while Skyler Koder (138) scored a tech fall and the remainder of the team’s points came from forfeits. For the Tigerhawks, Jimmy Abell (106), Richard Blom (132) and Brandon Byal (285) earned pins to accompany two forfeits.

PCM’s second victory came against Gilbert, in which the Mustangs cruised to a 51-27 victory. Starting the night off with four-straight forfeits, PCM got its first win from Clark with a decision at 126. Ian Reed (145) then scored PCM’s first pin of the night and was followed by pins in the next two weights by Coleman and Luke Cummings (160). Marshall finished off the meet with a second pin at 182.

In the Mustangs’ 47-24 loss to Panorama, Clark earned his third victory of the night with a pin at 126. Reed managed his second pin and victory at 145 and Koder earned his first pin and second victory at 138.

Panorama also handed a lopsided loss to the Tigerhawks, as the Panthers came out with a 66-18 victory. Cody Brodka earned C-M’s lone contested victory in the dual, while Abell and Rebecca Jensen each received forfeits.

The Mustangs will travel to a tournament at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn this weekend and will host host Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Woodward-Granger on Tuesday. The Tigerhawks will stay in the county and take on Collins-Maxwell-Baxter next Thursday in Baxter.
