C-M's Jimmy Abell wins title at Mustang Invitational

Colfax-Mingo sophomore Jimmy Abell brought home a 106-pound championship from the Mustang Invitational this weekend in Monroe.

Abell, ranked No. 7 at 106 in Clas 1A, recorded a pin in the semifinals and won by injury default in the championship round to remain undefeated at 22-0 on the year.

"It was disappointing that Jimmy didn't have a match in the finals, but that happens," Colfax-Mingo coach Bryan Poulter said. "We, of course, would have liked him to have more than one match for the day."

Other finishers for the Tigerhawks in the tournament included Ty Carlson and Rebecca Jenson, who each finished fourth. Colfax-Mingo will host Prairie City-Monroe, Gilbert and Panorama on Thursday.
