Newton Police Department

• Clint T. Nelson, 32, of Newton was charged with third-offense public intoxication, disorderly conduct and public urination after police were called to the Scoreboard in reference to a fight at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday. Officers removed Nelson from the bar. He then allegedly urinated on the window outside the bar, entered the bar and fought with the bartender. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Larry Plumb, 78, of Newton was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of North 10th Avenue East and East Eighth Street North at 10:14 a.m. Thursday. Plumb failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a vehicle driven by Kimberly S. Howard, 51, of Newton. Both vehicles sustained an estimated $1,500 damage. No major injuries were reported.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
