Salvation Army Capt. Mikey Carter (right) accepts a check for $300 from UAW Local 997 Chairman Bob VanderLeest on Wednesday. Local 997 also donated money to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy and donated $200 to the Courthouse Lighting Fund. UAW Local 997 retirees had a Thanksgiving/Christmas gathering that included live entertainment from local band Highway Home and a potluck. See additional photos on page 5A.
