• Robert B. Bowman, 16, of Colfax was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Monday at 552 W. 68th St. S. in Colfax for third-degree burglary and driving without owner’s consent. Bowman allegedly missed his school bus, broke into a neighbor’s house and stole their minivan. He then drove the vehicle and abandoned it shortly after. He was released to his parents.

• Timber J. Hogan, 16, of Newton was picked up by police after she ran away from a shelter at 11:19 p.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Highway 14 North. While in police custody, Hogan kicked out a police window. The damages totaled $218.28. She was transported to Eldora Detention Center.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
