Des Moines Women’s Club offering scholarships to students

The Des Moines Women’s Club is offering academic scholarships totaling $16,750 to Central Iowa high school and college students for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Thirteen scholarships, for both graduating high school seniors and college students, are offered in a variety of fields: art, literature, instrumental music, drama, performing arts, health, business, elementary education and non-designated fields. Several of the scholarships are available to both young men and young women.

Applicants must be legal residents of or full-time registered students in Jasper, Polk, Boone, Dallas, Madison, Marion, Story, or Warren County. Visit www.desmoineswomensclub.org to learn eligibility requirements and download an application form. The application deadline is Jan. 25.

The mission of the Des Moines Women’s Club is to improve the lives of our members through lifelong learning, to enrich our community through benevolent and scholarship activities and to support the Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation in its efforts to preserve and enhance Hoyt Sherman Place. This year’s DMWC scholarship fund is $3,500 more than last year’s.
