Charlotte E. Devereux was born in 1915 to Roy and Ella Whitney Manzer of Pierce, Neb. She passed from this life on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.

Charlotte and Leo P. Devereux were married in 1941 where they farmed south of Grinnell. Charlotte worked as a registered nurse in Grinnell. In 2005, she received the honor of being one of 100 Great Iowa Nurses. After her retirement, she relocated to Newton, Iowa.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Devereux Taylor (Carroll) of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; her son, John P. Devereux (Cynthia) of Newton; her daughter, Diane Versendaal (Arie) of Newton; her grandchildren, Anne, Joseph and MaiLynn Taylor, Kathleen Coulson (Scott) and Monica Walters (Wayne), all of Mt. Ayr, Brian Taylor of Portland Ore., and Lisa Versendaal and LeAnn Zach, both of Newton; her great-grandchildren, Darren, Jenna and Brandon Versendaal and Malarie Zach, all of Newton, and Gabrielle Hunke and Quinn and Ben Coulson of Mt. Ayr. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, daughters Catherine and Susan Devereux and Joan Devereux Haning, her parents and siblings.
