Woodrow Wilson staff, students thank community for Shoes That Fit support

To the editor:

We the staff at Woodrow Wilson Elementary would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the members of the community who have generously donated (and continue to donate!) to our students through the Shoes that Fit program.

Students perform their very best at school when they are healthy and have the necessities. The Shoes that Fit program helps to provide students with the basic things that students need in order to be successful at school. Simple things such as shoes, snow boots, a winter coat, or snowpants can make all the difference.

All of the items that are brought in are done so in a confidential manner so no student is singled out. Students receive their items during the school day and take them home at the end of the day.

There is nothing more rewarding that seeing a student who receives an unexpected gift of a brand new pair of shoes or coat!  A huge thank you to OnMedia for sponsoring this program and the local businesses, Noble All American Ford and First Newton National Bank, who are helping to distribute the cards which identify our needs.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
